Hanna is seated on his bed, having sat up, crisscross as he waits not very patiently for Ulla. When she comes into his small apartment she might notice a minor difference. In his tiny kitchenette the hole where the stove had been removed is no longer empty, a microwave on the counter that looks like it's been there for years, beat up and not new. His fridge, now the size it's supposed to be, humming loudly in it's old age.
"Hello!" He is practically bouncing, but he swore he wasn't going to say anything until she did. He hopes she notices right away or else he might explode.
It only takes her a second. Between cabin changes and the absolutely
gleeful look on his face, as he practically vibrates with excitement, it's
not hard to guess.
Ulla laughs brightly, and she's coming over to hug him. Hjerte will join
in too, tentacles around Hanna's shoulders. "I take it congratulations are
in order, then?"
Hanna is glad that he no longer feels like absolute garbage, practically kicking his feet when she noticed immediately, embracing her and Hjerte with a laugh.
"You don't have to tell me how incredibly amazing I am, but it wouldn't hurt."
Ulla gives him a quick kiss on the cheek, then informs him, "I didn't need
the Admiral to convince me of that. You already were. But I'm so happy you have your life
and your freedom back."
"Me neither. Technically, the Admiral didn't do shit except scoop me on up, which maybe he'll start to regret when he actually has to listen to me." But, despite how angry Hanna has been with him in the past, well. Maybe it'll be okay.
There is that nervous laugh again when she kisses him, but he looks less embarrassed this time, leaning back on his hands. "I did have a favor to ask you though, if you don't mind."
Hjerte clambers over onto Hanna's shoulder as Ulla pulls back. He'll hang
out there, with a murmured, "Congratulations," as long as Hanna raises no
objections.
"You're always welcome to ask. The answer will usually be yes."
Oh, he doesn't. He's used to being crawled all over now that he's got his salamanders, the little guys sleeping in his hair probably. He looses track of them but they're usually around. He'll wiggle a tentacle with his finger and say a soft thanks back.
"Well. I know Vinny mentioned it on the network, but I was hoping maybe you could give me an advance on my next port allowance?" He knows it's not really that but it's fun to call it that. "I have a friend that I'm sure could turn around a big ass bag of gems easy and I have some...thoughts about what I'm gonna try and do when I get home. If that's too much though, that's also cool."
Hanna thinks for a moment. While the recession is definitely taking its toll on luxury items, that will swing around eventually. Besides, nothing wrong with a big bag of investment assets, right? He thinks so.
"That is a good point...gimme a second." To which Hanna will hop up and start digging through his closet, finally pulling out a beat up old jansport, "how about fill this, and...diamonds would probably be the easiest to sell, they don't depreciate really and I know some people use them as spell components. Does that work?"
Ulla laughs. A beat up backpack is probably as safe a place as any. No
one will suspect it's stuffed with diamonds. She draws her bare feet up so
she can sit cross-legged on Hanna's bed, skirt tucked around her, as she
accepts the backpack.
"That works. Should they be small or large? Would certain sizes draw too
much attention in your world?"
Hanna can also hide it in plain sight too, so that makes it easier.
"I think the more average size the better. If I show up with something ridiculous someone might be suspicious of their origin. Though...maybe one abnormally big one." Because the idea of a big ass diamond is kind of funny to him in his shitty apartment. He could put it in his tiny ass window and let it prism light into his apartment the 20 minutes a day the light is shining through.
"Thanks by the way. Like...it's a little jarring, thinking about going home and not worrying about stupid things like whether or not I can afford the bus, or if I can get a coffee in the morning after an all nighter. But definitely in a good way kind of jarring."

Ulla grins. "Of course it's not too much. Any requests on specific types of jewels?"
And Hjerte adds, "Better tell her how many you want, or she'll fill half the room for you. We're very glad you've graduated."
